Hardware stuff

You should use open source things as much as possible which is why you should use a libre booted thinkpad or something similar. You should also probably purchase this thinkpad in person with cash so it can't be traced back to you. I also recommend buying a WiFi adapter that you're willing to dispose of for some reasons explained later.

Software stuff

For your operating system I'd recommend Qubes OS because everything is so compartmentalized its very difficult to infect your machine. I also like this operating system because you can create disposable virtual machines (qubes) and connect them to different qubes that act as your internet which is also virtualized. This is important as you will be able to use The Onion Router (tor) or Mullvad VPN. The guide to set up Mullvad with OpenVPN can be found here, and the Wireguard guide will be found here.

The good stuff

The most effective way to stay anonymous is to create a new qube, set it as disposable so that a new machine is created every time you need to work, and set the networking to tor, which would be the whonix-gateway[version-number] or the Mullvad qube you may or may not have set up. Also its very important, to check your sys-net qube's terminal and check if your Media Access Control (MAC) is randomized. On WiFi this should be automatic, but with a cabled connection you will probably have to manually randomize it.

In case of blocked ip addresses

There may be certain website you visit that will block you from entering, whether its because you're on tor or using Mullvad. When this happens, you have a couple options to bypass this. First you could (and i never tried this but this could work) purchase a privacy friendly Virtual Private Server (vps). You could then set up Wireguard and a no logging policy and connect to it and work from there. Another way you could go about bypassing this is connecting through a different router. You could use a different persons' router ;) or a public wifi such as that at a library or coffee shop
