The Gear

The only real option for the torrenting client you should be using here is qBittorrent. It's free and open source so you won't get malware from it. The torrenting client is what allows you to download torrent files which contain certain data, like pictures or game files. The second part you might need is a Virtual Private Network (VPN). What this technology does is encrypts your connection so that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) cannot see what you are doing, and it makes your connections private*. You should use a VPN because if you were to torrent copyrighted material, you could get into trouble. Now I did put an asterisk before, and that is because most VPN companies keep your data and the world governments could order a subpoena requesting that data, which those companies have to give, and that could incriminate you. The solution is to use a VPN that does not keep logs and one such company is Mullvad VPN. From my knowledge this is one of the only companies that have a no logging policy. To make things better, you could pay them in Monero which is an untracable and anonymous cryptocurrency, but you don't have to go this far.

So you should have your torrent client and VPN ready. First you'd turn on your VPN so that your connections become encrypted and then you may begin torrenting. Also make sure you scan everything you download with an anti virus just to be extra safe, and download torrents with a lot of seeders if you can. A seeder is a person who is uploading the torrent. Also use popular torrenting websites. I don't think I can put links down here just so I don't get persecuted but you can probably find the big ones from a few google searches. When you've downloaded the file, you could, maybe should, stop seeding the torrent. Whenever a torrent finishes downloading you automatically start seeding it, that means to upload it for other people to use, but for best privacy measures you should stop it to stop leaking your own IP which could be traced back to you. Normally though its nice to seed but to stay safe you might not want to do that.

Some extra stuff, for your browser you could use anything but I recommend Librewolf which comes preinstalled with uBlock Origin which is the best adblocker there is.
